Rev. Earnest Ted Elrod, Sr., age 85 of Leesburg, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Cherokee Floyd Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held 3:00PM Thursday, October 3, 2024 in the Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Scott Hosey officiating, burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM till the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will include Donald Guttery, Lee Anthony, Ben Arnold, Scott Norris, Jimmy Oliver and Preston Stallings.

Rev. Elrod is survived by his wife, Mary Elrod; son, Earnest Ted Elrod, Jr. (Rose); daughters, Carol S. Norris (Doug), Cathy L Elrod; sister, Earlene Pruitt (Wendell); 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Claude Elrod, Charles Elrod, Jack Elrod and Larry Elrod.

Rev. Elrod was a native of Cherokee County and the son of the late Earl C. and Katie Elrod. He was a minister for 52 years and he pastored multiple churches in Cherokee, DeKalb and Etowah Counties. He also worked at Cherokee Electric for 35 years and volunteered with the nursing home for 20 plus years.
