Warriors win first-ever football meeting with Class 6A Shades Valley 20-6

IRONDALE – Tae Diamond ran for 120 yards on 22 carries and scored a pair of first-quarter touchdowns to lead the Cherokee County Warriors to a 20-6 football victory at Class 6A Shades Valley on Friday night.

The game marked the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Diamond scored on runs of 1 and 22 yards for the Warriors (5-1). Tristan Brown also added a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. He finished with 93 yards on 14 carries with a score. Keyshawn Woods accumulated 46 yards on seven carries.

For the game, the Warriors gained 259 rushing yards on 45 carries.

Keshawn Thomas had an interception on defense.

Quincy Poole accounted for Shades Valley’s lone score on a 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. He led the Mounties with 94 yards on 22 carries.

Zay Bolden completed 5 of 16 pass attempts for 93 yards.

Cherokee County hosts Anniston on Friday.
