Authorities are still looking for a motorist who reportedly caused a fatal crash in Bartow County, Georgia last week that claimed the life of a Floyd County man.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Arthur Brandon Rutledge was on a 2023 Indian Scout motorcycle and traveling east on Highway 41 when an unidentified vehicle – traveling north on Burnt Hickory Road – ran a stop sign; according to reports, a vehicle in front of Rutledge swerved to avoid the car, causing a chain reaction.

Rutledge struck the back of a Jeep Wrangler and fell off of his motorcycle before being struck by a Nissan Titan.

Rutledge, age 27 – graduated from Woodland High School in 2015 before attending Georgia Highlands for two years.  In 2018, he joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve.  After completing his boot camp training in Parris Island, and Marine Combat Training at Camp Lejeune, he returned home to attend Kennesaw State University – and it was there he obtained his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering.

He worked as an engineer at Fizz Dispense Optimization Group, followed by a career as a Tire Design Engineer at Toyo Tires; the incident remains under investigation by various law enforcement officials.
