COLLINSVILLE – Collinsville junior running back Quintavious Rogers accounted for 199 yards rushing and five touchdowns on 14 carries, leading the Panthers to a 44-28 Class 3A Region 8 football win over Whitesburg Christian on Friday.
Rogers scored twice in the first quarter on runs of 36 and 3 yards. Whitesburg Christian cut the Panther lead to 14-7 on Aidan Cook’s 18-yard touchdown run with just under two minutes remaining in the opening quarter. Collinsville (2-1, 1-1) responded with Mason McAteer’s 55-yard touchdown pass to Jeremiah Killian with 33 seconds remaining to make it a 20-7 game.
McAteer finished the game completing 10 of 13 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown. He also had a pair of carries for 55 yards.
Rogers scored twice more in the second quarter on runs of 33 and 31 yards to push the Panther lead to 34-7. Jan Segura’s 38-yard field goal gave Collinsville a 37-7 advantage at halftime.
Rogers scored his fifth and final touchdown on a 16-yard run with 1:44 remaining in the third quarter.
Cook ran in from 14 yards early in the fourth quarter. Kaleb Robinson connected with Crews Cole on a 30-yard touchdown pass, and Tobin Jaeger added a 61-yard touchdown run for the Warriors for the final.
Robinson passed for 176 yards and a touchdown. Jaeger had 13 carries for 79 yards and a score for the Warriors (1-2, 1-1)
Gavin Lang led the Panther defense with two interceptions.
Collinsville travels to Asbury on Thursday.
