Birmingham Forecast for Tropical Storm Francine
Tropical Storm Francine will continue to move northward throughout the day – bands around Francine will be setting up over central Alabama through the day.
A “Flood Watch” has been issued – rainfall totals have been increased in a few areas – and a Marginal Risk was introduced for Friday afternoon; a brief tornado is possible for all of central Alabama; that from 11:00am to midnight. There is also the possibility of a brief tornado in the eastern portion of central Alabama on Friday from 1:00 through 11:00pm.
Sustained winds 15 to 25 mph with wind gusts of 40 to 45 mph; scattered downed trees and power outages as well – and strongest winds through midnight tonight. There is also the threat for flooding, with 3 to 6 inches of rain possible – with a few areas receiving over 6 inches through Friday evening.
