The Cherokee County Warriors and Piedmont Bulldogs both moved up a spot in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association football rankings. The latest poll was released early Wednesday morning.
Following a 42-21 victory at Class 5A Arab on Friday, Cherokee County (1-1) is now third in the Class 4A rankings. Jackson (1-1) and Pleasant Grove (0-1) are number one and two respectively. Jackson received all 18 first-place votes.
Cherokee County opens Region 6 play at Oneonta (0-1) this Friday.
In Class 3A, Piedmont (2-0) is now ranked fifth after coming off a 34-13 victory over Saks. The Bulldogs host Ohatchee (1-1) in Region 6 action on Friday.
The Spring Garden Panthers (2-0) remain at No. 8 in the Class 1A poll. The Panthers are coming off a 34-12 win at Pleasant Valley and travel to Ragland (0-1) in Region 8 action Friday.
