Heat Advisories for Parts of Alabama TODAY

“Heat Advisories” for Parts of Alabama TODAY/Thursday

Humidity levels will be climbing today (Thursday) – and Heat Advisories will be in effect for parts of Alabama – as the National Weather Service is expecting air temperatures to climb into the mid- to upper 90’s.  Those temperatures, combined with more moisture in the air, will make it feel even hotter, and the Heat Index could climb as high as 108 degrees in some areas.

Heat Advisories have been issued for parts of north and central Alabama, while south Alabama has avoided them so far.

Several cities in Alabama cracked the 100-degree mark on Wednesday – though no records were broken.  Temperatures may be a degree – or two – LOWER this afternoon, but it could FEEL just as warm, or worse.

Friday could bring similar conditions to some parts of Alabama – and the Weather Service wasn’t ruling out more Heat Advisories for the last day of the work week.

Rain chances are expected to be a bit HIGHER in some areas for the day – (on Thursday), although parts of south Alabama got hit with BOTH some rain and storms on Wednesday.  Any storms that develop today, could be the typical summertime “pulse” variety – and could briefly be strong BUT widespread severe weather isn’t expected.

Look for more hot temperatures throughout the holiday weekend – but a return to much more “normal” temperatures is expected by next week – and in fact highs by next Wednesday may “only” be in the 80’s; THAT, per Weather Service Forecasts.
