At the beginning of the week, federal agents investigated a semitrailer coming across the Mexican border on the way to an Atlanta area farmer’s market.
The agents tracked the drugs to a farmers market in Forest Park, Georgia. Agents found 2,380 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in celery. The DEA said it’s one of the largest seizures like this; agents confiscated the drugs.
A Mexican national, 40-year old Jesus Martinez, was arrested in relation to the methamphetamine that was seized. Needless to say, the celery didn’t make it to the farmers market.
This was the third-largest meth seizure DEA wide and valued at $3 million wholesale.
