Funeral service for Edmond H. “Ed” Davis, 88, of Piedmont will be
Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with
Pastor Michael Anderson, Rev. Wendell Dutton and Dr. Lewis Conway
officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family
will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 p.m until time of the service.
Mr. Davis died Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Cherokee County Health and
Rehab. Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Syble Davis of
Piedmont; son, Donald E. Davis of Piedmont; daughter, Pam Chapman
(David) of Piedmont; granddaughter, Amanda East of Jacksonville and two
great-grandchildren, Brayden East and Harper East. Pallbearers will be
Brayden East, John McKay, Joe Hulsey, Stanley McFry, Danny Smith, Ray
Ragan and Aidan Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be James Sanford and
Sam Morgan. Mr. Davis was a longtime resident of Piedmont and was a
member of Salem Baptist Church where he was the oldest member and
deacon. He retired from the State of Alabama, was a United States Army
veteran and retired from the Alabama National Guard with 20 + years of
service. He was a member of the Lozahatchee Masonic Lodge # 97 F & AM .
He enjoyed riding in the country, working word search and watching TV.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his first wife, Miriam Sue Davis,
parents, Howard and Kate Davis and a brother, Ralph Davis. In lieu of
flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to Pleasant Gap
Cemetery, 400 County Road 763, Piedmont, AL 36272.
