Since living in Alabama for the past two years I’ve really looked into the past and present sports landscape. I always knew that great athletes grew up and came from Alabama. But, some of the names I came across totally blew me away. So, I put my own top 10 list together. Let’s start with #1 Henry Aaron (Mobile),#2 Willie Mays (Fairfield), #3 Bo Jackson ( Bessemer), #4 Ozzie Newsome ( Muscle Shoals), #5 Willie McCovey ( Mobile), #6 Satchel Paige (Mobile), #7 John Hannah ( Albertville), #8 Bart Starr ( Montgomery), #9 Charles Barkley (Leeds), and #10 Early Wynn (Hartford). These are just a few of the greatest athletes that ever have come from Alabama that had a huge impact on the sports world.
