Get Ready for A GREAT LIBERTY DAY in Cedar Bluff, Alabama

CEDAR BLUFF POLICE CHIEF JEREMY STEPPS PLANS FOR SAFE 4TH OF JULY SPECIAL EVENT

According to Cedar Bluff Police Chief Jeremy Stepps, Liberty Day activities will start at 7:00am this Saturday, June 29th (2024).

Road closures will start at 6:00am.   Alabama Highway 68 East will be shut down – from Alabama Highway 9 to Old Highway 9 at the red light.  Main Street from Old Highway 9 at the Fire Department – to Martha Vera Lane (Spring Street) beside Town Hall – Mechanic Street from Alabama Highway 68 to Cross Street – and Grove Street from Alabama Highway 68 to Cross Street.

These roads will remain CLOSED for the entirety of the event; once the event is over all roads will be opened back up for traffic.

At 8:50pm – Alabama Highway 9 will be shut down for approximately 20 – 25 minutes for that Firework show.  Alabama Highway 9, will be shut down on the Cedar Bluff side of the bridge at Alabama Highway 68.   Alabama Highway 9 will be shut down on the Centre side of the big bridge past the fishing pier where the fireworks will be shot from.  There will be a flashing sign on the causeway informing you from the sign to the fishing pier will be No Parking.

We have to keep EVERYONE back a “safe distance”.   Fireworks will NOT be shot until this is done.  ALEA Marine Police – along with the Cherokee County Rescue Squad – will be on the water to assist in keeping everyone at a safe distance as well.

Everyone PLEASE pay close attention to pedestrians CROSSING the roadway at Alabama Highway 9 and Alabama Highway 68 at the Weiss Mart Marina.

Once the firework show is over traffic will be allowed to flow as normal; If you are leaving the Weiss Mart Marina parking lot – you’ll ONLY BE allowed to turn right out of the parking lot and travel North toward Georgia.  If you are leaving from Cross Street or Mechanic Street you will only be allowed to turn right and travel North toward Centre.   This is to allow traffic to flow – AND not have any cross traffic.   There will be a large presence of Law Enforcement, Fire Personnel – and other First Responders. Everyone please pay close attention during this time.

This year inside the park there will be numbers placed on various poles where vendors are located.  In case of an emergency and you call 9-1-1.  Please give the dispatcher or the homeowner that you’re talking to the closest number that you see.   Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS and the Town employees, will have a map of these numbers and will be able to locate you quicker if given this number.   Law Enforcement, and EMS, will have tents set up in front of Town Hall during the event.
