Man Charged with Vehicular Homicide in Death of Rome, Georgia Man
An elderly Resaca, Georgia man – was released from the Polk County Jail on a $2,000 bond, Friday – after being charged in the Vehicular Homicide of a Rome resident.
The accident happened last Thursday on Georgia 101, and fatally injured 30-year-old Jacob Pearson, who was driving a motorcycle, which collided with a Jeep Cherokee driven by 83-year-old Samuel William Johnston.
The Georgia State Patrol says Johnston failed to yield while attempting to turn onto Dean Road – and as a result – that motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the Jeep. Pearson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Johnston was arrested and charged with 2nd-Degree Vehicular Homicide and Failure to Yield While Turning Left – both misdemeanors.
