In Loving Memory of Linda “Carol” Abernathy / November 8. 1953 – June 20, 2024

Ms. Linda Carol Abernathy, aged 70, of Centre, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 20, 2024. Born on November 8, 1953, she was the cherished daughter of Preston Clarence Chambers and Eloise Chambers.

Carol was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jerry David Abernathy, her parents, Preston Clarence and Eloise Chambers, her brothers, Larry Lewis and Charles Chambers, and her sister, Sandra Chambers. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her son, Skylar Prichard; her daughters, Tammy Abernathy, Tonya Mullins, and Sonya Pace; her grandchildren, Brittany Blalock, Destiny Bronson, DeAnna Pace, Camden Abernathy, and Tyler Golden; her great-grandchildren, Carson Blalock and Story Guyton; and her brother, Preston Chambers Jr.

Carol was a pillar of love, kindness, and generosity. As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she was a beacon of warmth and compassion. Known for her caring nature and willingness to help others, Linda touched many lives. Her love for children was evident in her role as an impactful Sunday School teacher, where she nurtured and guided many young hearts. She also had a profound affection for animals, often bringing smiles to those around her with her cheerful demeanor and kind spirit.

Services to honor Carol’s life of love and charity will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will commence at 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 4:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Ricky Clark. Serving as pallbearers will be Kurt Cecil, Jason Chambers, Dustin Mullins, Robert Pace, Don Prichard, Nico Guyton, and Tanner Young. Linda will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Centre, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Carol’s memory to support her beloved family during this time.
