The Alabama Department of Transportation has stated the work will get underway this week – in order to improve the intersection of US-411 and Rainbow Drive and Whorton Bend Road in Gadsden. Wiregrass Construction will extend the left turn lane – located on US-411 southbound, and also construct a dedicated right turn lane – on Whorton Bend Road to US-411 northbound.
The $347,000 project also includes traffic signal upgrades. Also, the contractor will install new signal poles during the first phase of work.
Project Funding, comes from the Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program-II. The Rebuild Alabama Act created ATRIP-II to advance projects of local interest on state routes. Local sponsor Etowah County provided the matching funds.
