During the Tuesday afternoon City of Centre Council Meeting, Mayor Mark Mansfield addressed the Council about the New city hall update. He informed the Council that there was not a lot of new information. Architect Tom McElrath is doing his due diligence and waiting on contractors to sign contracts. They are getting very close.
Mansfield, then told the council Bobby Paul , the Street and Sanitation Supervisor, is very satisfied with the new garbage truck they received last Tuesday. This vehicle will help employees get the job done more efficiently.
Next on the agenda the Council spoke about the upcoming rodeo on June 14 and 15 at Estes Park. Mayor Mansfield called on Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship to give an update what he and EMA Director Shawn Rogers have been working on the rodeo. The Chief informed the Council both have worked together to shut down a portion of Main Street during the rodeo. This is to alleviate any traffic situations. The Mayor said there could be anywhere from 500-to-3000 people each night for this special event. It will be held rain or shine. Bobby Paul and his crew will put bleachers at Estes Field to accommodate the patrons. The concessions will down on the track and a company out of Rome has donated lighting for the rodeo. It will be long hours for the Centre Police Department and all City employees. The Mayor concluded this by saying all the Plans on right on track.
