Sand Rock softball finishes runner-up in silver bracket of Gadsden State Umpire Tournament

GADSDEN – The Sand Rock Lady Wildcats went 3-3 over the weekend and finished runner-up in the silver bracket of the Gadsden State Umpire Tournament over the weekend. Wins came over Cedar Bluff (12-5), Gaylesville (11-6) and Hueytown (4-3). Losses were to Cherokee County (6-1), West End (7-6) and Pisgah (5-0).

In the win over Cedar Bluff, Emma Thompson went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored a run. Paitlyn Hughes was 3-for-4 with a run and a RBI.

Molly Lay and Alyvia McMichen both had a pair of hits and scored a run. Lay had a RBI and McMichen drove in two.

Aliyah King contributed a hit, two runs and two RBIs. Aubie Camp collected a hit, a walk, a run and a RBI.

Emma Sipsy picked up the win after tossing a no-hitter through four innings. She gave up an unearned run with two strikeouts. Macy Martin worked an inning and gave up two earned runs on two hits with two walks and a strikeout.

In the win over Gaylesville, Madeline Clanton collected a pair of hits and a pair of runs. Lay also had two hits, a run and a RBI. Camp contributed two hits, including a double, with a run and three RBIs.

Sipsy homered and had two RBIs. Peyton Johnson, Thompson and King each had a triple. Johnson and Thompson both walked and drove in two runs. Johnson also scored a run. King walked and scored two runs. Hughes had a hit and scored a run.

McMichen earned the win after working three innings. She gave up an earned run on four hits with three strikeouts.

In the win over Hueytown, Lay doubled, scored a run and had two RBIs. Sipsy had a hit, a run and a RBI. McMichen managed a hit and a RBI. King and Camp both contributed a hit and a run. Clanton finished with a hit. Johnson earned a walk.

Sipsy earned the win after working three innings. She gave up an earned run on five hits with a walk and a strikeout. Martin tossed two innings ang allowed just two hits with two strikeouts.

In the loss to Cherokee County, Sipsy doubled. King had a hit and a walk. Lay finished with a hit and McMichen scored a run. Martin and Thompson both walked twice. Martin suffered the loss.

In the loss to West End, Sipsy led the Lady Wildcats with a pair of hits and a run. Camp contributed a hit, a run and two RBIs. Johnson had a hit and two RBIs. Lay added a hit, a run and a RBI. King came away with a hit and a run. McMichen managed a hit and a walk. Thompson finished with a hit and Clanton scored a run. Kinzlee Peek suffered the loss.

Sipsy had the lone Sand Rock hit in the loss to Pisgah. She also walked. McMichen and Clanton both drew a walk. McMichen suffered the loss.
