OXFORD – Alexandria claimed a 12-2 win over Piedmont in five innings to claim the Calhoun County Softball Tournament at Choccolocco Park in Oxford on Friday evening.
Savannah Smith and Cacey Brothers both had a pair of hits to lead Piedmont. One of Smith’s hits was a double. Brothers drove in a run.
Cadence Buttram contributed a hit and a run. Eliza Mathis added a hit. N’Kiya Bothwell scored a run.
Piedmont took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Alexandria responded with four runs in the bottom half. The Lady Cubs added four more runs in the fourth and closed out the game with four more in the fifth.
Smith suffered the loss for Piedmont. She worked three innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits with a pair of strikeouts.
