Brothers’ bat, Smith’s pitching push Piedmont past White Plains in Calhoun County Softball Tournament

OXFORD – Cayla Brothers delivered a two-run home run in the top of the third inning, providing pitcher Savannah Smith all the run support she needed in Piedmont’s 2-1 softball win over White Plains in the Calhoun County Softball Tournament at Oxford’s Choccolocco Park on Tuesday.

Smith tossed five innings and gave up an earned run in the bottom of the first inning. She scattered four hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

Smith also had a hit at the plate and scored a run. Amiyah Thomas had the only other Piedmont hit.

Piedmont takes on Alexandria in the winners’ bracket final on Thursday at 3 p.m.
