There were some slight changes for area baseball and softball teams in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association poll. The latest rankings were released early Thursday morning.

In baseball, Piedmont (12-6) still holds on to the top spot in Class 3A. Collinsville (15-3) moved up a spot to No. 5 in Class 2A and Gaylesville (10-4) dropped two spots in Class 1A to No. 9.

Class 4A Cherokee County (15-7) and Class 1A Spring Garden (7-5) continue to receive nominations.

In softball, Spring Garden (11-5) moved up a spot to No. 5. Piedmont (9-4) dropped one notch to No. 6. Class 2A Sand Rock (5-9) held steady at No. 9.

Cherokee County (17-2) continues to be nominated.
