Spring Garden splits in Spring Swing Softball Tournament at JSU

JACKSONVILLE – The Spring Garden Lady Panthers split a pair of softball games on the first day of their Spring Swing Tournament at Jacksonville State University. They defeated Ohatchee 4-3 on Monday morning and dropped the nightcap to Ariton 3-0.

In the win over Ohatchee, Helena Ingram went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and a RBI. Avery Steward was 2-for-3 with a run and a RBI. Layla Ingram also went 2-for-3 with a run. Maggie Jarrett and Addie Word both finished with a hit. Jarrett and Maggie Reedy both drove in a run. Olivia Law drew a walk.

Lilly McCain earned the win after working six innings. She gave up three earned runs on six hits with seven walks and a pair of strikeouts.

In the loss to Ariton, Helena Ingram went 2-for-3. Steward and McCain both contributed a hit. Reedy, Law and Rylie Ham each had a walk.

Steward suffered the loss after tossing five innings. She didn’t give up an earned run and allowed three hits with a walk and six strikeouts.

Spring Garden is scheduled to take on Pisgah at 5:30 p.m. and Jacksonville at 8:30 p.m. in the tournament on Tuesday in Jacksonville.
