Collinsville completes area baseball sweep of Gaston with a pair of 9-2 wins

COLLINSVILLE – The Collinsville Panthers completed a Class 2A, Area 13 baseball sweep of Gaston with a pair of 9-2 wins on Thursday.

In the first game, Gavin Lang tossed a two-hitter for the Panthers (14-2). He allowed just one earned run with two walks annd 12 strikeouts.

Lang was also 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, three runs and two RBIs.

Mason McAteer went 3-for-4 with three runs. Jeremiah Killian collected two hits, a walk, a run and two RBIs. Jake Middlebrooks also managed a pair of hits, including a double, with three RBIs.

In the nightcap, Zach Clanton struck out 14 Gaston hitters and allowed just one hit in claiming the win. Will Edmondson tossed two innings. He allowed two earned runs on four hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Edmondson, Lang, Justin Pruitt and Dawson Cothran each had a pair of hits and a run apiece. Edmondson, Pruitt and Cothran each had a double. Lang had two RBIs, while Edmondson and Pruitt both drove in a run.

Sylas Adams added a hit, a walk, two runs and three RBIs. McAteer managed a hit, two walks, a run and a RBI.

Collinsville travels to Foley on Monday for a 7 p.m. game.
