HOKES BLUFF – Maggie Reedy led off the top of the seventh inning with a bloop hit to right field that was dropped. Lilly McCain bunted her over to second base, and Maggie Jarrett delivered a line shot to right for a double that scored Reedy for the only run of the game in Spring Garden’s 1-0 softball victory at Hokes Bluff on Thursday.
Jarrett led the Lady Panthers at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a RBI. Helena Ingram and Olivia Law had the only other Spring Garden hits.
Avery Steward picked up the win after going the distance. She allowed just four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.
Spring Garden hosts its annual Spring Swing at Jacksonville State University beginning on Monday. The Lady Panthers take on Ohatchee at 9 a.m. They end the day against Ariton at 6 p.m. Other teams in the tournament include Jacksonville, Ider, Pisgah and Ragland.
