Burglar Caught-Property Recovered

A Cherokee County resident who lives on County Road 45 observed a person in a building on their property Friday afternoon and called 9-1-1 to report the situation.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they were informed the suspect had fled the scene but were given a description of the person and the automobile he was driving along with missing property. According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Deputy Snead and Investigator Smith soon found the vehicle matching the description at a nearby residence with the suspect inside the vehicle along with the victim’s property.

Officers arrested 57 year old Tony Van Pierce of a Piedmont address on charges burglary 3rd degree, theft of property 4th degree, and certain persons prohibited to possess a firearm. He was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center.

The stolen property was recovered for the victim.
