Lady Warriors’ Hill strikes out 20 in 11-inning marathon win at White Plains

WHITE PLAINS – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors and White Plains Lady Wildcats are no strangers to playing tight softball games.

The two teams did so again on Monday.

The Lady Warriors scored a run in the top of the 11th inning on a Bristol Bass single to center field and held on in the bottom half to take a 3-2 victory.

Emma Hill went the distance in the circle. She gave up two earned runs on six hits with five walks and 20 strikeouts.

Lanie Williams led Cherokee County at the plate by going 4-for-5 with a home run and a double. She also walked. Audrey Haygood added three hits. Bass also belted out three hits, walked and drove in two runs.

Anna Walker and Abby Lea both added a pair of hits. Lea also walked and scored a run.

Cherokee County is scheduled to play at Handley on Tuesday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
