CENTRE – The Cherokee County Warriors opened their 2024 softball season with a bang Tuesday, pounding out 14 hits in an 11-0 win in six innings against visiting Hokes Bluff.
Anna Walker went 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs and a RBI for the Lady Warriors. Abby Lea was 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, three runs and a RBI. Grayson Tucker went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a RBI. Bristol Bass was also 2-for-4 with a triple, a walk and three RBIs.
Lanie Williams doubled, scored a run and drove in another. Macy Lea finished with a hit and scored two runs.
Tucker picked up the win in the circle after tossing five innings of one-hit ball. She walked one and had two strikeouts. Bass worked an inning and surrendered two hits with a strikeout.
Cherokee County hosts Southside of Gadsden on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
