Celebrating over 56 Years of 9-1-1 Service to the Community

From the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office:  It was 56 years ago, that then Speaker of the Alabama House of Representatives Rankin Fite made the first ever 9-1-1 phone call to U.S. Congressman Tom Bevill who answered from the Haleyville Police Department.

Thanks to this monumental invention, millions of lives have been saved across the United States AND calls of distress are being answered EVERY SINGLE DAY multiple times.

Take time to thank a 9-1-1 Operator today!
