New Cherokee County Courthouse Project Moves Forward

A number of items were dealt with during the Monday morning meeting of the Cherokee County Commission.

Chairman Tim Burgess announced – that Gary Hopper recently ended his service as a part of the Cherokee County Healthcare Authority, tendering his resignation. An appointment to fill his six-year unexpired term – ending in December of 2026 will take place in the Monday, March 11th meeting – submittal of resumes, letters and so on will be through Wednesday, March 6th – until the close of business in the County Commission Office.  Three people – Shawn Rogers, Jay Howell, and Becky Smith – were all re-appointed to serve on the Cherokee County Communications District – to fill four-year terms ending in January of 2028.  And both Micah Hyatt and Ian Grimes were re-appointed to the Cherokee County Parks & Recreation Board.

And the Cherokee County Commission officially granted the construction project for the new County Courthouse.

And of course, the bottom line is: “The Chase is ON…” and we’ll follow the project, all the way, from start to finish.

The next meeting of the Cherokee County Commission, is set for Monday, February the 26th, starting at 5:00pm being held in the Cherokee County Administration Building in Centre.
