A whole lot of rain is in the forecast for all of Alabama in the next few days.
But at least it won’t be as cold, and there are no concerns about ice and snow.
The National Weather Service said multiple areas in Alabama could get up to 6 inches of rain by next weekend. That much rain has raised concerns about potential flooding.
And a few strong storms could be in the mix as well. NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has added southwest Alabama to a Level 1 out of 5 (marginal) risk for severe weather on Wednesday.
All of Alabama could see rain and a few thunderstorms, but isolated severe storms will be possible Wednesday in southwest Alabama.
A Level 1 risk means that isolated severe storms will be possible.
Severe storms aren’t expected for the rest of Alabama this week, but there will be a lot of rain to deal with.
The National Weather Service said rain chances will begin to increase in north Alabama tonight and central and south Alabama on Tuesday, and the most rain is expected on Wednesday and Thursday.
Multiple rounds of rain are expected, according to forecasters.
North and central parts of Alabama are expected to see the highest rain totals through next weekend. The weather service thinks 4 to 6 inches of rain will be possible for areas generally along and northwest of the Interstate 59/20 corridor.
Rain is expected across the rest of Alabama as well, with 2 to 4 inches possible through Sunday morning, according to the weather service.
