Rome Police Investigate Burglary at West Rome Business and Damage to an East Rome Store
The Rome Police Department is investigating a New Year’s Day burglary at Sam’s Food Mart in West Rome. According to that incident report, at around 3:00am Monday, two people broke into the store at 1944 Shorter Avenue, by knocking down the back sheet-rock wall. The burglars made off with a large amount of merchandise.
Meanwhile, a Maple Avenue business was damaged by gunfire, according to a Rome Police Department report. The officer was driving in that area and soon he noticed bullet holes in the front storm door of the “Tuk Tuk” Food Mart. A closer inspection revealed two bullet holes in the glass storm door and the exterior of the business. The report states that an officer had heard 4 to 5 gunshots in that area at around 8:00pm Monday.
Both incidents remain under investigation.
