GAYLESVILLE – The Collinsville Panthers swept a pair of basketball games at Gaylesville on Tuesday evening. The Lady Panthers held on for a 40-37 victory while the Panther boys earned a 55-41 win in the nightcap.
In the girls game, Bella Wills led the Lady Panthers with 15 points including three 3-pointers. Caleigh McElroy netted nine points. Gracie Griggs contributed eight points. Karly Middlebrooks finished with six points.
Gracie Dawson delivered a game-high 24 points, including a pair of treys to lead the Lady Trojans. Emma Givens finished with nine points.
Collinsville jumped out to an 11-2 advantage in the first quarter, but Gaylesville managed to cut its deficit to 19-15 at halftime. The Lady Panthers led 27-26 heading into the fourth quarter and held on for the win.
In the boys game, Gavin Lang sank four treys and finished with 14 points to lead the Panthers. Eli Griggs added 11 points and eight rebounds. Jake Middlebrooks managed 10 points and 11 rebounds. Zach Clanton came away with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers. He also grabbed 12 rebounds. Mason McAteer and Sam Stewart scored six points apiece. McAteer’s points came on a pair of 3-pointers.
Kyler Bradley topped the Trojans with 18 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Kuper Bradley tossed in 12 points. Collin Hendon finished with six points on a pair of 3-pointers.
Collinsville held an 18-11 advantage at the end of the first quarter and held a 28-18 edge at halftime. The Panthers led 44-28 at the end of the third quarter.
