Spring Garden girls go 2-0 in Dynamic Hoopfest

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Spring Garden Lady Panthers went 2-0 in the Dynamic Hoopfest in Jackson, Tenn., on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the Lady Panthers defeated Vashon (Missouri) 59-30 and on Saturday beat McKenzie (Tenn.) 68-42.

In the win over Vashon, Libby Brown connected on six 3-pointers and netted 18 points. She also had three rebounds, three steals and a block.

Ace Austin also scored 18 points to go along with 10 rebounds, nine assists and two blocks. Chloe Rule contributed 12 points, four rebounds and an assist. Maggie Jarrett finished with seven points.

Spring Garden jumped out to a 25-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and held a 46-11 advantage at halftime. The Lady Panthers led 59-22 at the end of the third quarter.

In the win over McKenzie, Austin topped the Lady Panthers with 26 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals. Rule tossed in 17 points to go along with seven rebounds, a steal and a block. Jarrett collected 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists and a steal. Brown finished with nine points, four rebounds and two assists.

Spring Garden built a 17-3 first-quarter advantage and held a 35-19 lead at halftime. The Lady Panthers led 54-31 at the end of three quarters.

Spring Garden hosts Handley on Tuesday.
