Rome Police Investigate Monday Killing and Sunday Disturbance

Police are investigating the shooting death of a Rome man – at a home on Pinson Road early Monday morning.

According to Floyd County Police Department reports – 20 year old Jamon Kenterius Allen of a Rome, Georgia address has been killed by multiple gunshot wounds; that, according to the Floyd County Coroner’s Office.   He was declared dead at 8:26am Monday.  Allen was coming in the home when he was shot – and there’s a potential that the incident was a case of mistaken identity.

Major Jeff Jones of the Floyd County Police Department, stated “The call initially came in as a burglary, however it appears that the shooter and the victim knew each other.”  The investigation is on-going and no charges have yet been filed

And the police are also investigating another shooting incident, Sunday evening at the Swan Lake Mobile Home Community – off Old Dalton Road in Armuchee.

Witnesses told police that a group of youths were outside when someone had a disagreement with another person in a vehicle – and the driver of that vehicle drove through the crowd in order to disperse them, police said, and may have run over a person’s foot.   At that point, someone in the crowd opened fire, although police reported that it was unclear whether they were aiming at the car or firing into the air.   As of Monday afternoon, no one had been hospitalized resulting from the incident.
