Collinsville’s Rogers runs wild against North Sand Mountain

COLLINSVILLE – Collinsville’s Quintavious Rogers ran wild against North Sand Mountain in Class 2A, Region 7 football action on Friday night.

Rogers accumulated 198 yards and scored six touchdowns on 27 carries. He also caught a pass for 62 yards and had an interception in the Panthers’ 56-7 victory.

The win clinched the third playoff spot from the region for the Panthers. Collinsville (7-2, 5-2) will travel to Southeastern (5-3) on Nov. 10.

Rogers scored Collinsville’s first three touchdowns on runs of 13, 2 and 2 yards for a 21-0 Panther lead.

Following a 4-yard touchdown run by North Sand Mountain’s Joshua Farmer, Rogers scored for a third time in the second quarter on a 1-yard run to make it a 28-7 Panther lead.

Rogers picked up where he left off in the third quarter by scoring on another 1-yard run for a 35-7 Collinsville advantage.

Panther quarterback Mason McAteer ran in for a 10-yard score with just over two minutes remaining in the third for a 42-7 lead. He ran for 113 yards on nine carries with a score and also completed 7-of-11 pass attempts for 140 yards.

Rogers and Lucas McDaniel scored Collinsville’s final two touchdowns in the fourth quarter on runs of 13 and 81 yards.

On defense, Gavin Lang had a pair of interceptions for the Panthers that he returned for 16 and 12 yards.

Farmer led North Sand Mountain with 78 yards on 18 carries.

Collinsville closes out the regular season on Thursday at Valley Head.
