Sand Rock finishes runner-up to Cherokee County in Block Out Cancer Volleyball Tournament

CENTRE – Sand Rock went 4-1 and finished runner-up to Cherokee County in the Block Out Cancer Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Wildcats (42-16) defeated Jacksonville 25-22, 25-15, Glencoe 25-13, 25-14, and Fairview 25-16, 25-21 in pool play. They also defeated Westbrook Christian 25-4, 25-20 in the tournament semifinals, then lost in the finals to Cherokee County 24-26, 26-24, 9-15.

For the day, Rylin St.Clair delivered 116 assists, 25 digs and nine aces. Chloe Stephens posted 68 digs and eight aces. Katelyn St.Clair contributed 54 kills and five aces. Bethany Davis collected 34 kills, 44 digs and eight aces. Zoey Handy had 20 kills and six blocks. Peyton Johnson finished with seven blocks and 10 kills.

Sand Rock hosts the Class 2A, Area 13 tournament on Tuesday. The Lady Wildcats open play against Gaston at 4 p.m. The winner advances to the championship match at 6:30 p.m. against the winner of the 5:15 match between West End and Collinsville.
