COLLINSVILLE – Things got off to a good start for the Collinsville Panthers in their Class 2A, Region 7 football game against defending state champion Fyffe on Friday.
Mason McAteer gave the Panthers an early touchdown lead on a 2-yard touchdown run, but the Red Devils scored 53 unanswered points to take a 53-6 victory.
Logan Anderson led Fyffe (5-1, 4-0) with 80 yards on 18 carries with five touchdowns on runs of 10, 8, 9, 13 and 7 yards. Four of those scores came in the first half, in which Fyffe led 34-6.
Blake Dobbins, Ryder Gipson and Maddox Doss accounted for the other Fyffe touchdown runs.
Quintavious Rogers led Collinsville (4-2, 2-2) with 144 all-purpose yards, including 74 yards on 17 carries and five kickoff returns for 67 yards.
McAteer completed 4-of-9 pass attempts for 88 yards, with Gavin Lang catching three passes for 85 yards.
Collinsville is at Ider on Friday. Fyffe hosts Sand Rock.
