The Cherokee County Warriors (3-0) are the only area high school football team ranked in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association poll. The latest rankings were released early Wednesday morning.
The Class 4A, No. 2 Warriors are coming off a 35-0 victory at Good Hope and host No. 8 Oneonta (2-1) in the Foothills Tractor Game of the Week on Friday.
Class 1A Spring Garden (1-2) and Class 3A Piedmont (0-2) dropped out of the rankings this week following their latest losses. The Panthers fell at Wadley 41-7 and will host Victory Christian (2-1) this Friday.
Piedmont, which dropped a 23-7 decision at Sylvania, travels to Plainview (1-1) on Friday.
One other area team continues to receive votes for the poll: Class 2A Collinsville (2-0). The Panthers are coming off a 39-6 victory at Section and will host third-ranked Pisgah (2-0) on Friday.
