Sand Rock, Spring Garden compete in Ohatchee football jamboree

OHATCHEE – Sand Rock and Spring Garden both competed in the Ohatchee football jamboree on Friday evening. The Wildcats fell against the host Indians 21-0, then dropped a 27-0 decision to White Plains. Spring Garden earned a 10-0 win over White Plains, then fell to Westbrook Christian 21-0.

In Spring Garden’s win over White Plains, Clayton Sadler accumulated 62 yards on six carries. John Welsh ran for 37 yards on four carries.

Chapel Pope added 26 yards on five totes, including the scrimmage’s lone touchdown – a 2-yard run with 1:07 remaining in the first quarter. Hayes Garmon added the extra point. Garmon connected on a field goal with 1:02 to go in the second for the final.

Against Westbrook, Sadler ran for 24 yards on four carries to lead the Panthers. The Warriors scored a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter and closed out the scoring with another touchdown in the second.

Spring Garden travels to Sand Rock in the 2023 season opener for both teams on Friday.
