81-Year Old Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Calhoun
A motorcyclist was killed on Tuesday afternoon after a collision with an SUV on Red Bud Road.
According to information from the Calhoun Police Department, 81 year Tomas Garcia Marquez Jr., from Calhoun, was riding his motorcycle westbound on Red Bud Road when he lost control of the bike and began to fishtail; Garcia Marquez crossed over into oncoming traffic in the eastbound lane, and he then hit the right front passenger side of an SUV.
The motorcycle proceeded onto the sidewalk – and it then came to rest on an embankment before Garden Heights Apartments – near the intersection with Highpoint Drive.
Garcia Marquez was pronounced dead on the scene, by Coroner Bo Nicholson.
