CENTRE – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, another in the second and five more in the fifth to take a 9-2 season-opening softball win over Fyffe on Tuesday.

Abby Lea, Grayson Tucker and Audrey Haygood led the Lady Warriors with a pair of hits apiece. Lea tripled, doubled, walked, scored and drove in a run. Tucker tallied two doubles, a walk, a run and two RBIs. Haygood scored a run.

Lanie Williams homered and walked. Emma Hill had a hit, a walk and a run. Macy Lea contributed a hit, a walk and a run. Anna Walker finished with a hit and scored a run.

Tucker tallied the win after working three innings. She gave up an earned run on a pair of hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Hill tossed two innings. Abby Lea and Bristol Bass both worked an inning.

Cherokee County is scheduled to host Ashville on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
