Warriors fall short at Jacksonville, 65-62

JACKSONVILLE – Cherokee County rallied from eight points down at halftime to tie Jacksonville after three quarters, but the Jacksonville Golden Eagles managed to hold on for a 65-62 area boys basketball victory on Tuesday.

Landon Caldwell led four Warriors in double figures with 15 points. Jaden Wilson added 12 points. Jack Amos and Cade Hopper both connected on three 3-pointers and had 11 and nine points respectively. Malachi Horton finished with five points.

John Broom topped the Golden Eagles with 15 points. Caden Johnson delivered 14 points. Cam Johnson managed 13 points. Devin Barksdale had 12 points and Ethan Duke finished with eight points.

Jacksonville held an 18-14 advantage at the end of the first quarter and built a 36-28 edge at halftime before the Warriors (9-5) battled back to tie the game at 48 after three quarters. Jacksonville held off the Warriors in the fourth for the final.

Cherokee County hosts Piedmont on Thursday.
