MATTHEW THOMAS CHRISTIAN, 20 of Piedmont, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at home surrounded by family and friends.  Born in Anniston to Chad and Misty Jones Christian, he was employed with Holtzclaw Landscapers and had previously worked at Calhoun County Coop.

A May 2022 graduate of Spring Garden High School, he loved the outdoors -especially fishing, and landscaping. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clayton Christian.

He is survived by his mother: Misty (Kevin) Spoon; father: Chad Christian; grandparents: Brenda Adderhold Christian, Jean Spoon, Faye and Charles Jones; sisters: Brittney Christian and Autumn Spoon; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his special fur babies, Cooper, Tank, and Phea.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 7, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from Dansby Heritage Chapel with burial to follow in Piedmont Memory Garden. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until funeral time. Flowers will be accepted or memorials to the Cancer Society in his memory.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Lewis, Nathan Jennings, Jon Mark Poole, Tristan Lewis, Landon Gowens, Joshua Forrister, Blake Fortenberry, and Glen Holtzclaw.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Milton, Rodney Hurst, Darren Bowman, Dr. Christie Lewis, Julie Clark, Marc Johnson, Blake Johnson, and Brandon Jones.

The family would like to give special thanks to Adoration Hospice and Fallon and Tara for their devoted care, Jody League, Lisa Norris, Sharon and Tim Stevens, Kevin Ward, Cristy Jones, Jennifer Poore, Sandy Adderhold, Kathy Word, and Raylnee Daughtery. The Spring Garden School and Community, the Piedmont Community, and Sand Rock High School will never be forgotten for their love, care and support during this time.
