Early Tuesday morning class was in session for the Deputies of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office along with Officers of Cedar Bluff PD and Centre PD for educational training on Implicit Bias.

Cherokee County’s LT. Jordan Kelley presented the Alabama Peace Officer Standards & Training Commission’s course on “Implicit Bias: Concepts & Countermeasures; the four-hour training session/course was concluded by District Attorney Elect Summer Summerford as she presented an in-depth legal update for law enforcement.

“It’s important for law-enforcement officers to be properly trained so that they can make split-second decisions while on duty. The law is constantly changing and it’s important that officers know and understand these changes as they happen. I appreciate all the officers who attended the training today. Their commitment to the community is evident.”
