A forty-one-year-old Gaylesville, Alabama man was arrested this week on drug charges after a traffic stop near Lyerly.
On Tuesday night, a deputy sitting at the old Lucky’s Supermarket in Lyerly saw a blue Chevrolet car travelling northbound on the Lyerly Highway (GA 114) with no functioning tag light. When the deputy ran the tag number, it came back for a 1991 Chevrolet truck. The deputy initiated a traffic stop near Hamp Brewer Road.
The deputy informed the driver about the tag issued and told him that the car would have to be towed. As the deputy was inventorying the car for transport, a glass pipe was found. Another pipe also turned up in the vehicle with suspected methamphetamine residue.
Gregory Dale Crane was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug related objects and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
