TODAY (Tuesday, May 24th) is Election Day – and polls are open from 7:00 – 7:00 as voters cast their ballots in a number of local and state races, in addition to one amendment.
Incumbent Ginny Shaver will be facing competition from Brett Rhodes, in the race for State Representative in District #39. In the race for Alabama State Senate District 10, Incumbent Andrew Jones will be unopposed.
Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver will be running unopposed this time around – as will incumbent Corey Colbert for Place #2 and newcomer Nathan Ealy for Place #1 on the Cherokee County Board of Education. Current County Coroner Paul McDonald is also running unopposed this election cycle
Carlton Teague will have no opposition in the race for Cherokee County Commission, District IV – while in District II current Commissioner Dr. Roger Nichols will be facing Kimball Parker, who has held the position in the past. And, in the race for District Attorney, Summer McWhorter Summerford will be facing Nick Jones; that, following the retirement of long-time District Attorney Mike O’Dell.
