UPDATE – Service Restored to Most Locations by 6:00am

There was a widespread power outage in Centre beginning around 2:00am Thursday with electricity being out from near McDonald’s Restaurant – headed into the middle of town and also along the Chestnut Bypass and beyond, heading toward Gadsden.  Cherokee County did experience some strong thunderstorms last night, however the storms had already passed through prior to power going out.

We’ve yet to hear from anyone at the Co-op regarding a reason for the loss of service, the areas affected or an estimated time of repair.  We understand Co-op crews are currently out all around the area, working to restore service as quickly as possible.

Remember, in any areas where the red lights are not working, treat that intersection as a four-way stop.  Exercise extreme caution.
