CENTRE – Mary Hayes Johnson, Audrey Haygood and Emily Allen each scored 11 points to lead the Cherokee County Lady Warriors to a 53-25 victory over Ashville in the Class 4A, Area 10 girls basketball tournament on Tuesday.

Nine of Allen’s points came on three 3-pointers. Carson Coley came away with seven points for the Lady Warriors.

Sera Potter led Ashville with seven points. Rachel St. John finished with six points.

Cherokee County jumped out to a 15-1 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Warriors went on a 26-6 run in the second to take a 41-7 edge at halftime.

Cherokee County hosts Etowah in the area championship game on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Etowah defeated Jacksonville 44-39 in other tournament semifinal action on Tuesday.
