The Floyd County Police Department is investigating the discovery of human remains that were found Friday in a subdivision off of Kingston Highway.

Patrol officers identified the location around 1 p.m. on March 27, 2015 in a wooded area off of Everwood Court.

Due to the nature of the discovery, and unusual location of the remains, crime scene investigators are processing the area at the time of this statement.

Investigators are currently unable to confirm the identity or gender of the remains. The coroner has been notified and the remains will be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for further examination.
