Cherokee County School Board Approves Make-Up Days

The Cherokee County School Board approved a revision to the 2014-2015 School Days adding some make up days for the month of March – Superintendent of Education Mitchell Guice explains –

Also during that meeting the board accepted the retirement of longtime Assistant Superintendent Dr. Trina Wood – Dr. Wood will moving after 16 years of service to take a position on the Community College level in Georgia –

The Board also accepted the lowest and only bid for a welder from Dixie Welding Supplies in the amount of $742 – also a bid and contract was approved for Telecommunications Services with TDS and AT&T.

Out of State Travel was approved for Teachers Jonna Betterton, Jessica Walker, Anna Young, April Young and Erin Butler to attend the Nuts & Bolts Symposium in Destin, Florida on June 23-26 2015 to be funded by Title Funds.

Personnel action included –

  • Certified Transfer by Agreement – Joslynn Hart from Elementary Teacher to Instructional Coach at Cedar Bluff School – effective at the end of the 2014-2015 School Year
  • Classified Placement – Richard King – Bus Shop Utility Worker – effective March 9.
  • Supplemental Resignation – Jim Garmany – Head Baseball Coach at Cherokee County High School – effective immediately

2014/2015 Supplemental Additions/Changes –

  • Molly Jordan – CCHS/CMS Girls Junior High Softball B-Team Supplement – $800
  • Brian Mackey – Boys Basketball Coach at Sand Rock – $597 less benefits – funded by Sand Rock Athletic Club
  • Lisa Bates – Girls Basketball Coach at Sand Rock – $597 less benefits – funded by Sand Rock Athletic Club
  • Justin Taylor – Coach at CCHS – $900 less benefits – funded by the Cherokee County High Quarterback Club
  • Tyler Crane – Coach at CCHS – $900 less benefits – funded by the Cherokee County High Quarterback Club
  • Skylar Ray – Coach at CCHS – $900 less benefits – funded by the Cherokee County Quarterback Club
  • Jim Garmany – Coach at CCHS – $500 less benefits – funded by the Cherokee County High Quarterback Club
  • Sean Machristie – Coach at CCHS – $500 less benefits – funded by the Cherokee County High Quarterback Club
  • Remove Skylar Ray from the CCHS Additional Supplement – $400 and add him to the CCHS Head Baseball Coach Supplement – $750
  • Zach Highfield – CCHS Additional Supplement for Tennis – $400

The next regular meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Education is set for Tuesday, March 24 at 6:00 pm at the Central Office in Centre.
