WRGA Reports| Rome Police Lt. Gary Clayton confirms a male has been shot this afternoon. It happened near Grover Street and Wilson Avenue.
The victim was transported to the hospital via Floyd EMS. Family and friends of the victim began arriving shortly thereafter.
Dan Bevels with Floyd said due to the crowd, “We have gone into a controlled access mode where we are bringing in some extra security from the Rome Police just to make sure anyone coming in to the hospital has appropriate business and the hospital.”
Bevels said he believes that will be the case for the next hour or so, but the situation is a fluid one and they are working with police as they continue their investigation.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots just after 3 p.m. Investigators are on the scene.
