For those unfamiliar with the Jobs for Alabama’s Graduates (JAG) program in Cherokee County, please allow me to give you a brief overview. JAG is a school-to-career program for high school youth and is based on a national model called Jobs for America’s Graduates. Alabama’s JAG students learn to conduct effective job searches, set long-term academic goals, manage time more efficiently, and practice good human relations skills with employers and co-workers.

Your local JAG program is committed to:

Identifying students who may need assistance to remove barriers that are known to interfere with successful transition from school-to-work or from school-to-school,

Teaching students life and work skills that are valuable to employers,

Partnering with employers to offer mentoring, job shadowing and employment opportunities

In order to fulfill our commitment to the students and employers of Cherokee County and surrounding communities, we need the support of employers, business owners, and community leaders like you. Specifically, we want students to learn from you — community members, leaders and potential employers–so that they will have a foundation for future success in the workforce.
